WALKING TOUR OF DIKE SYSTEM

Tuesday, February 11 at 11:00am

Registration required. Fee: $5

Long Island’s East End farms operate within a unique micro-climate that balances soil and water. Join us at Salt Air Farm in Cutchogue to walk the longest dike system on our beautiful East End, created in the 1940s. Along the way, learn from farmers Dan and Prudence Heston how this unique system works, why it is important to their farm, and the challenges (and joys) of farming in a seaside environment. Meet at the Library!  Dress appropriately for a 2.5-mile hike.
