SUN VS. YOUR SKIN – SKIN CANCER SAFETY UPDATE VIA ZOOM
THURSDAY, JULY 18, 12:00pm
Registration required.

Unprotected exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays can cause damage to the skin, eyes, and
immune system. It can also cause skin cancer. On average, one in every five people will
develop skin cancer in their lifetime. Dr. William Guo, Chief Senior Resident Physician in
Dermatology at Stony Brook Medicine, and Matthew Chen, medical student at Stony Brook
School of Medicine, will discuss the different types of skin cancer, risk factors, treatment
options, and dermatologist-recommended best practices that people of all ages, especially
children, should be following to stay safe in the sun.
