Program Description

Event Details

The North Fork has a long history of farm labor camps that were home to southern-born Black men and women. One of the very last ones was on Depot Lane in Cutchogue. Former Newsday photographer Viorel Florescu took scores of photographs inside that camp, of the work being done and the residents themselves. His photographs will be displayed in our art gallery from September 20th to October 31st. A reception will follow the presentation in the Upstairs Gallery. Suffolk Times executive editor Steve Wick, who worked with Viorel on documenting the camp, will give the presentation. This is a collaborative effort by the Library and the Friends of the Library.
