Problems with philanthropy today, solutions for the philanthropy of tomorrow: How to make sure your philanthropic giving really makes an impact.
Monday, June 28th, 6:30pm
ZOOM LINK will be sent to registrations the day of the program.
Much of the world of philanthropy today is characterized by top-down, agenda-driven approaches to solving problems for vulnerable people. Think very large organizations designing solutions for people without their knowledge or consent. But in recent years there is also a growing movement dedicated to making sure that philanthropy engages with the people that it is supposed to help from the start, ensuring that their input and perspectives are foundational parts of any "solution" to be implemented. This program seeks to discuss this transition, why it's important, and what we as donors can do to help.
This event is an opportunity to participate in an idea-driven conversation about how philanthropy works today and some of the most important things that we can do as donors to ensure that our giving makes a difference. The event will be casual, open-ended, and will encourage (but by no means require) everyone to participate.
