Join us in front of the Library along with representatives from Kait's Angels and Southold PBA who are dedicating a Buddy Bench in memory of Kaitlyn Doorhy to the Cutchogue New Suffolk Free Library. The Buddy Bench will be installed under the flag pole for our library visitors. Light refreshments served.
Buddy Benches are meant to provide a safe space for children who are feeling lonely or bullied. Children often have difficulty articulating those feelings, and so the simple act of sitting on a bench provides them with a way to express their feelings without the need to verbalize them. They can then be supported by their peers. We invite all of our patrons to participate.
The mission of Kait's Angels is to provide "financial support, emotional assistance, and other services to people with health issues, employment interruption, and other emergencies. We sponsor age appropriate school assemblies that deliver positive messages of reinforcement to young people in the community, deliver constructive inspiration through our various social media platforms, and aspire to ensure a progressive environment full of opportunity for our North Fork community."
