Cultural Landscape Walking Tour at Hallock State Park Preserve
Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 10:00am
Registration required.
This roundtrip 2 mile walk through the woods of Hallock State Park Preserve will walk and discuss the long cultural or human history of the park from the 1600’s through today. The land has been altered for centuries by people and evidence of those alterations can still be found today. You will walk through the battle area that took place onsite during the War of 1812, as well as traversing the former Camp Careysite, which was a boys camp in the earlier 19oo’s. You will observe boundary mounds in the woods that are very old and you will see the lone surviving witness tree of the battle! Meet in the upper parking lot. Led by MaryLaura Lamont.
