The Central Pine Barrens is a fire dependent and prone ecosystem which experiences regular wildfires. The Central Pine Barren Prescribed Fire Program is an interagency collaborative that is initiating prescribed fire operations within the Central Pine Barren forests to reduce the risk of wildfire, improving public safety and advancing ecological restoration. The presentation will highlight the fire ecology of the Central Pine Barrens; locations of planned 2023 prescribed fire operations including the Dwarf Pine Barrens and David Sarnoff Pine Barrens State Forests; how to obtain more information on prescribed fire operations and the proactive measures the public can implement to help protect your home or business from wildfire.
